Introduction to Financial Management for Community-Based Organizations

FinMan workshop

During this capacity building workshop participants from community-based organizations will gain a clear understanding of basic financial management and why it is essential to the health of an organization.  This session will help clarify roles and responsibilities of those who oversee the finances of an organization and who make purchases or obligate funds on the organization’s behalf.

Participants will learn about:
   •  Best practices for financial management
   •  The importance of documentation
   •  Overhead costs
   •  Creation of a basic monthly financial summary
   •  Cost/benefit analysis

This is a hands-on workshop. Participants will be able to apply what is learned and prepare a simple income statement by the end of the session.
