Introduction to Financial Management for Community Based Organizations

This capacity building workshop provides participants the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of basic financial management and why it is essential to the health of an organization. For one day, participants learn how to clarify roles and responsibilities of not only those who oversee the finances of an organization but of those who make purchases or obligate funds on the organization’s behalf. Participants learn about:

  • Best practices for financial management;

  • The importance of documentation;

  • Overhead costs; 

  • Creation of a basic monthly financial summary; 

  • Cost/benefit analysis.
