UHI Community Speakers Bureau

A Platform for Baltimore’s Voice and Expertise

2025 Bunting Fellow Wesley Hawkins Speaks at Graduation

The Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute (UHI) Community Speakers Bureau aims to foster opportunities for dialogue and to uplift the knowledge and expertise of Baltimore community leaders and residents. It serves as a bridge between Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and the Baltimore community by inviting Community Speakers into classrooms and special events at JHU.

Become a Community Speaker

Community Speakers are compensated for their time and may include: (1) leaders and staff working in Baltimore City community-based organizations (CBOs; non-profit 501c3) or (2) Baltimore City residents with unique life and/or health care experiences. Employees of JHU, JHMI, and Baltimore City government organizations do not qualify as Community Speakers.

Request a Community Speaker

JHU faculty, staff, or student groups can apply to be matched with a UHI Community Speaker. Applicants will be required to sign an agreement to adhere to the UHI Speakers Bureau Guiding Principles & Best Practices for Community Engagement.
